Botanical illustration in the Amazonas

Lorraine Kaminsky Martins has been organizing the Amazon trips for the Margaret Mee Foundation in Rio for 16 years and for Dulce Nascimento, who has a Botanical Illustration course on the Amazon for 9 years.

2. The Ninth Botanical Illustration Course in the Amazon by Dulce Nascimento, the
second artistic scholar of the Margaret Mee Foundation – May 19 - 25, 2007.
Many of you met Dulce Nascimento in Denver for a couple of years ago. Last year a group from GNSI (Guild of Natural Science Illustrators) participated in Margaret Mee Foundation's trip organized by Dulce, and an article about it is coming out in the February issue of GNSI Newsletter.

Join me to congratulate our ten new Graduates!

Our program has once again proven its strength. At the portfolio review yesterday, January 26th, ten of our students had successfully completed the requirements for the Certificate and each of them presented an outstanding portfolio.
We, the instructors, are very satisfied and proud of the level of competence you present in your work.

I hope that you continue participating in our program and wish you all the luck and success in the future.

Science Fair

When: Saturday, February 3, 11 am-4 pm
Where: Putnam Elementary School of Science, 1400 Maple Street, Fort Collins.

Denver Botanic Gardens’ Certificate on Botanical Art and Illustration Program and Childrens’ Program will be presented by Marjorie Leggitt at her GNSI booth. Last year about 1000 people attended including kids and parents from 22 schools.
Among the other participants so far: USGS Science Center (with info about research on black footed ferrets, mountain lions, bats), various departments at CSU (Chemistry, Physics, Nutrition, Child Development (brain research), Geology, US Forest Service Research Station, Rocky Mountain Raptor Association, Fort Collins Audubon Society, Discovery Science Center, Hewlett Packard Visiting Scientist Program.
