“Nothing is more precious than life” – Happy Birthday Linnaeus!

Carl Linné was born today for 300 years ago. Numerous celebrations have already taken place around the world but the main events are concentrated to the current week in Sweden. The Imperial couple is among the guests, since Thunberg, one of Linnaeus apostles compiled the Japan’s first flora after traveling to Japan in 1775.
My flight to Sweden is for tomorrow.

Please note, that the Summer BI-courses start on the week of June 4th with a nice selection of required and elective courses.

Intimate Affairs Between Plants and Pollinators
By Angela Overy

The basic science of flower pollination by bees, hummingbirds and some unexpected vectors is shown with beautiful photography and a humorous touch. Discover why flowers evolved with different colors and shapes, and why they bloom at various times of the day or season.

Angela Overy is an award winning author and artist who lectures on flower pollination all over the country. Her popular presentations demonstrate a whole new way of looking flowers.

Café Botanique is a part of the Botanical Art and Illustration Program. The 30-40 minute talk starts at 6:30 p.m. and is followed by a discussion. Café Botanique meets every first and third Thursday of the month, each time with a different topic relating to the Denver Botanic Gardens exhibits and Botanical Illustration classes.
There is no admission fee and pre-registration is not required.

Refreshments will be served.
