Graphite and Watercolor

(Chickadee by Emma Felt)
We recently finished a graphite class focusing on birds. The students first spent a half day in the zoo sketching, making notes and getting familiar with their subject matter. The plates were then finished in the classroom.
In another class the students practiced a new technique: they started illustration with pale graphite grisaille and finished with watercolor washes. Please see some samples of student work from both of these workshops in the BI-Facebook by clicking here.
